Baptized into Life

GOD MADE HIM WHO HAD NO SIN TO BE SIN FOR US, SO THAT IN HIM WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD
(2 Corinthians 5:21).

The Lord Jesus had no sin, but then He took our sin upon His own body. He did not take our sinful reactions on Himself, but the cause of our sinful reactions—the OLD MAN body of sin. After He took the OLD MAN—the negative, destructive beliefs of the father-of-lies—upon His own body, He was crucified. Thus, the OLD MAN body of sin was crucified with Him and in Him. After three days the Lord Jesus was raised from the dead by the Glory of the Father…without the OLD MAN body of sin. During His death, an exchange had taken place in Him—the OLD MAN body of sin was replaced with the NEW MAN body of Righteousness. He became sin for us…and then He became our Righteousness.

KNOW YE NOT, THAT SO MANY OF US AS WERE BAPTIZED INTO JESUS CHRIST WERE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH? THEREFORE WE ARE BURIED WITH HIM BY BAPTISM INTO DEATH: THAT LIKE AS CHRIST WAS RAISED UP FROM THE DEAD BY THE GLORY OF THE FATHER, EVEN SO WE ALSO SHOULD WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE. FOR IF WE HAVE BEEN PLANTED TOGETHER IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS DEATH, WE SHALL BE ALSO IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS RESURRECTION: KNOWING THIS, THAT OUR OLD MAN IS CRUCIFIED WITH HIM, THAT THE BODY OF SIN MIGHT BE DESTROYED, THAT HENCEFORTH WE SHOULD NOT SERVE SIN
(Romans 6:3-6).

When we are baptized, we enter into the exchange that took place in the Lord Jesus.  While we are submerged in the baptismal water, we are placed in a spiritual realm where we merge with the Lord Jesus, in death, to undergo a replacement of life. In this spiritual medium, the transaction that took place during the death and rising of the Lord Jesus is transferred to us. Under the water, our OLD MAN body of sin is crucified with the Lord Jesus and exchanged for the NEW MAN body of Righteousness. The OLD is taken off and the NEW is put on. Thus, we rise with the Lord Jesus to walk in newness of Life.

AND IF CHILDREN, THEN HEIRS; HEIRS OF GOD, AND JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST; IF SO BE THAT WE SUFFER WITH HIM, THAT WE MAY BE ALSO GLORIFIED TOGETHER
(Romans 8:7).

You are ready to be baptized when you are tired of living a life of sinfully reacting to the OLD MAN–the negative, destructive beliefs deposited in your mind by the father-of-lies. During your baptism, your OLD MAN is crucified with the Lord Jesus. Thus, you are offered a new Life—the very Life of the Lord Jesus Christ, but in your body, soul, and spirit.

PRAYER: “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s” (Psalm 103:2-5).

We now have a moment-by-moment choice: to live our daily lives the way we always have, under the reign of the OLD MAN, or to allow the Lord Jesus to live His NEW MAN Life is us.

The Two Counsels

The Last Shall Be First

SO THE LAST SHALL BE FIRST, AND THE FIRST LAST: FOR MANY BE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN
(Matthew 20:16).

The other day, I relived a memory: I was five years old. My family was at a festival where they invited all five-year old children to enter a race. My daddy registered me to run in this race.

When the whistle blew I hardly knew in which direction to run, but the little boys and girls to the right and left of me shot forward like bullets aimed at a target and ran with all their might. I came in last.

The other day, this same memory was triggered when I looked around me at all the people who were running the race of success, acclaim, and accolades. I could not keep up with them. Time after time I came in last. Feeling forsaken and forgotten, I submitted my defeat to God: “Save me, Lord Jesus. I am tired of running the race of success. I am always last.”

Suddenly, I was five years old again, running the race at the festival, trying in vain to keep up with my fast and furious competitors. Then, with the eyes of my heart, I spotted Him—the Lord Jesus. He was sitting next to the race track, beckoning me to quit the race and come to Him, instead. When I reached Him, He placed me on His knee. Then He whispered lovingly, “Beloved Child, I love you so much. I am so proud of you for WHO YOU ARE. You do not have to prove yourself to Me by WHAT YOU DO. I already know you. Only do the things I tell you to do. That is all I want from you. In the world’s eyes, you might not be important, but in My eyes, those who are last will be first.”

Then, for the first time, I saw that the Lord Jesus was sitting with His back to the finish line. He was not at all interested in the winners that were competing for accolades and acclaim. In fact, He did not even know who was first, because He was not even looking. He was only interested in a relationship with me.

How have you fared in the race for accolades and acclaim, so far? Are you first, or have you been coming in last, most of the time?

I urge you to bring your needy heart to the Lord Jesus—the needy heart that causes you to want to be first all the time. Find the oppressing beliefs from the father-of-lies that are causing you to look for accolades and acclaim. Then, ask Jesus to exchange these beliefs for His Love.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I am tired of trying to prove myself to You and to the world, over and over again. Help me to quit the race for accolades and acclaim, to come and sit by You, instead. Meet me on the race track, so I may know that You love me just the way I am.

Your Life Purpose

AND HE WHO SENT ME IS WITH ME.  THE FATHER HAS NOT LEFT ME ALONE, FOR I ALWAYS DO THOSE THINGS THAT PLEASE HIM
(John 8:29).

Notice that the Lord Jesus left you an example: He always did those things that pleased His Father.  HIS PURPOSE WAS TO PLEASE HIS FATHER…and He came to live His Life in you, even today, to please the Perfect Father through you.

Be encouraged that you do not have to go find yourself a PURPOSE in this life. You do not have to be anxious, thinking that you do not have a purpose.  You HAVE a purpose—TO ALLOW THE LORD JESUS TO PLEASE THE PERFECT FATHER THROUGH YOU, moment-by-moment. When you allow Him to please the Father through you, He will work out all the details of your life so that your whole life will become pleasing to God.

SO THEN THOSE WHO ARE LIVING THE LIFE OF THE FLESH [CATERING TO THE APPETITES AND IMPULSES OF THEIR CARNAL NATURE] CANNOT PLEASE OR SATISFY GOD, OR BE ACCEPTABLE TO HIM
(Romans 8:8 AMP).

If you live the life of the flesh, catering to the impulses of your natural nature, you cannot please the Perfect Father.

BUT YOU ARE NOT LIVING THE LIFE OF THE FLESH, YOU ARE LIVING THE LIFE OF THE SPIRIT, IF THE [HOLY] SPIRIT OF GOD [REALLY] DWELLS WITHIN YOU [DIRECTS AND CONTROLS YOU].  BUT IF ANYONE DOES NOT POSSESS THE [HOLY] SPIRIT OF CHRIST, HE IS NONE OF HIS [HE DOES NOT BELONG TO CHRIST, IS NOT TRULY A CHILD OF GOD]
(Romans 8:9 AMP).

However, if you allow the Lord Jesus to live His Life through you—His Life of pleasing the Perfect Father—He will direct and control your life, even today, so your life may become pleasing to the Father as well.

BY MYSELF I CAN DO NOTHING…FOR I SEEK NOT TO PLEASE MYSELF BUT HIM WHO SENT ME
(John 5:30).

What is there in your life that is not pleasing to the Perfect Father? Is it your negative thoughts…your anxiety…your despair…your anger…your jealousy…your fear…your guilt…your bitterness…your pride? I urge you to submit this part of your life to the Lord Jesus and ask Him to exchange it for His Life in you. When He inhabits this part of your life, He will make sure it becomes pleasing to the Father, as well.

PRAYER: May my purpose be to allow the Lord Jesus to please You through me, Perfect Father, during this Christmas season and forever more.

Maintain an Awareness

It is very important that you understand that it is not so much what happened to you during your childhood that affected you the most, BUT WHAT YOU CAME TO BELIEVE ABOUT YOUR SELF, OTHERS, AND GOD, IN RESPONSE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES (facts) of your childhood life.

The Desire to Please

DON’T YOU KNOW THAT WHEN YOU OFFER YOURSELVES TO SOMEONE TO OBEY HIM AS SLAVES, YOU ARE SLAVES TO THE ONE WHOM YOU OBEY—WHETHER YOU ARE SLAVES TO SIN, WHICH LEADS TO DEATH, OR TO OBEDIENCE, WHICH LEADS TO RIGHTEOUSNESS?
(Romans 6:16).

Have you ever heard someone say, “You are only doing this or that to please God, but God cannot be pleased since He is already pleased”?

It is true that God is already pleased through the Life of His Son, Jesus; however, God wants the Life of His Son to live in YOU as well. God furnished you with the desire to please, so you would allow His Son to please Him through YOUR spirit, YOUR soul, and YOUR body. On the other hand, the father-of-lies has seized your desire to please for his own purpose—to live his oppressing life in you and through you.

BUT NOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SET FREE FROM SIN AND HAVE BECOME SLAVES TO GOD, THE BENEFIT YOU REAP LEADS TO HOLINESS, AND THE RESULT IS ETERNAL LIFE
(Romans 6:22).

In other words, whom you please during this joyous season depends on the spirit that inhabits and controls your life—the Spirit of Jesus…or the spirit of the father-of-lies. Know that if you offer your life to God as His property, bound to Him in servitude, the Lord Jesus will live His Holy Life in you and through you. He will please the Perfect Father through you.

BUT YOU KNOW THAT HE APPEARED SO THAT HE MIGHT TAKE AWAY OUR SINS. AND IN HIM IS NO SIN.  NO ONE WHO LIVES IN HIM KEEPS ON SINNING. NO ONE WHO CONTINUES TO SIN HAS EITHER SEEN HIM OR KNOWN HIM
(1 John 3:5-6).

Whom do you live to please—the Perfect Father or the father-of-lies?

To whom have you offered your life as a means to inhabit and control, this Christmas season—the Lord Jesus or the OLD MAN? What benefits do you reap, daily, from your choice?

PRAYER: Perfect Father, I desire to please You, during this holiday season. Therefore, I offer my life to You as a sacrifice, Lord Jesus. Come and live Your holy Life in my mind, heart, and spirit to please the Perfect Father through me.

The Two Counsels

Keep Your Inner Peace

At one time I lived my life according to what was in front of me—according to the external circumstances I could see with my natural eyes. It felt as if I was living in a tunnel and the only light came from the opening in front. This is where my focus was—on the light at the end of the tunnel. There was no inner Peace. But one day God asked me to plug the opening at the end of the tunnel and turn my focus inward to what was unseen—His Words and His Visions that lived in my own heart. This would bring me Peace.

BLESSED IS SHE WHO HAS BELIEVED THAT WHAT THE LORD HAS SAID TO HER WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED!
(Luke 1:45).

Beloved, do not set your eyes on success that awaits you at the end of the tunnel. Do not look to your right and to your left at what others are doing. Do not stare at your circumstances. Instead, keep your eyes on My Words in your heart and set your eyes on the personal Visions I have given you. Focus on the daily, moment-by-moment tasks I have assigned you. Know that I will keep him in perfect Peace who trusts in Me; however, if you keep staring at the light at the end of the tunnel, you will lose this inner Peace.

THOU WILT KEEP HIM IN PERFECT PEACE, WHOSE MIND IS STAYED ON THEE: BECAUSE HE TRUSTETH IN THEE
(Isaiah 26:3).

Capture that what is seen on the outside is temporary, but what God shows you in your heart is eternal.

SO WE FIX OUR EYES NOT ON WHAT IS SEEN, BUT ON WHAT IS UNSEEN. FOR WHAT IS SEEN IS TEMPORARY, BUT WHAT IS UNSEEN IS ETERNAL
(2 Corinthians 4:18).

On what are you focused: on what is seen…or on what is unseen?

PRAYER: May I refrain from setting my eyes on success at the end of the tunnel, but instead set my eyes on You, O Lord. May I focus on the daily, moment-by-moment tasks You have given me. Then, Your Peace will reign in my heart.

Maintain an Awareness

Therefore, do not despair of the evil done against you: the insincerity…the depravity…the immorality.  They might have meant evil against you; BUT GOD will cancel the effects of any evil done against you, in the past, in the present, and in the future, if you submit to His discipline.

Forgive and Forget

Capture that forgiveness is not only an act performed by the MIND…but also by the HEART.

Understand that when you forgive from the mind, you make a deliberate decision to give up resentment and your claim to requital for the wrong deeds done against you, EVEN IF YOU DO NOT FEEL LIKE IT.  This is good; however, Jesus requires MORE!  Jesus requires you to also forgive FROM YOUR HEART.

FORGIVE YOUR BROTHER FROM YOUR HEART
(Matthew 18:35).

Blessed One, know that if you forgive from your mind, you will only be able to give up your resentment partially, because the rest of it will still be lodged in your heart.  However, if you also involve your heart during the process of forgiveness, you have the opportunity to experience a miracle.  If you invite Me, Jesus, into your heart to deal with the heartache caused by wrongful deeds committed against you, I will heal your heart.  In turn, not only will you be able to let go of your resentment, but the resentment will let go of you, too. Because the pain in your heart will be gone, you will be able to FORGET the wrongs committed against you.

IT IS FOR FREEDOM THAT CHRIST HAS SET US FREE
(Galatians 5:1).

Know that forgiveness from your heart requires your heart to be involved…to be engaged…to participate.  To forgive from your heart I need you to FEEL the effects of the wrongful deeds committed against you—the rejection, the abandonment, the shame, and the condemnation. Then, submit your heart to Me, just the way it is, so I may set it free from the PAIN.

Only then you will be able to FORGIVE and FORGET.

Is there someone is your life whom you have forgiven from your MIND, but not from your HEART, yet?

I urge you to speak to God about this person and the pain she or he has caused in your heart. Submit each piece of heartache to God, along with the underlying feelings of abandonment, condemnation, rejection, and shame. Let the Lord Jesus mend your heart completely, even if it takes a long time. Then, you will finally be free to forget.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I invite Your Presence and Participation into my broken heart to deal with the heartache caused by wrongful deeds committed against me.  Lord Jesus, heal my heart, so I will be able to let go of my resentment, and the resentment will let go of me.  Then, I will be able to FORGIVE the wrongs done against me…and also FORGET, for it is for freedom that You have set me free.

God wants you to desire to be important to Him, because you ARE important to Him…and He wants to tell you so, Himself.

Start Where You Are

NOW THE MIND OF THE FLESH [WHICH IS SENSE AND REASON WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT] IS DEATH [DEATH THAT COMPRISES ALL THE MISERIES ARISING FROM SIN, BOTH HERE AND HEREAFTER]. BUT THE MIND OF THE [HOLY] SPIRIT IS LIFE AND [SOUL] PEACE [BOTH NOW AND FOREVER]
(Romans 8:6 AMP).

Capture that the human mind loves to reason without the Holy Spirit.  However, reasoning without the Holy Spirit leads to sin and death, both here and hereafter.  Reasoning without the Holy Spirit causes us to reject God’s intimate Presence and Participation in the innermost parts of our beings.

The Father lived IN the Lord Jesus, while He was here on earth. They shared the intimate Glory of Oneness. And then the Lord Jesus passed this Glory of Oneness on to us—to live in us and through us, while the Father lives in Him and through Him. Imagine that! The very same Oneness that Jesus enjoyed with His Father has been made available to us. To receive this Oneness, all you need to do is invite the reasoning of the Holy Spirit into your daily, moment-by-moment tasks, wherever you are, whatever you are doing.

THAT THEY ALL MAY BE ONE; AS THOU, FATHER, ART IN ME, AND I IN THEE, THAT THEY ALSO MAY BE ONE IN US…AND THE GLORY WHICH THOU GAVEST ME I HAVE GIVEN THEM; THAT THEY MAY BE ONE, EVEN AS WE ARE ONE
(John 17:20-22).

Blessed One, cultivate Oneness with Me. Start where you are.  Do not go and look for something big or different to do for Me.  Invite the reasoning of the Holy Spirit into the conclusions of your current situations and problems.  Do you have a child?  Invite the reasoning of the Holy Spirit into your frustration, when your child becomes irritable, during your Christmas shopping.  Do you have a husband or friend?  Invite the reasoning of the Holy Spirit into your feelings of abandonment, when your husband or friend ignores you, during this busy time of the year.  Do you have a co-worker?  Invite the reasoning of the Holy Spirit into your feelings of shame and condemnation, when your co-worker ridicules you for your mistakes.  Do you have an enemy?  Invite the reasoning of the Holy Spirit into your feelings of rejection, when your enemy accuses you.  You will find that this is no easy task.  But, this cultivates ONENESS WITH ME. This allows Jesus to live HIS LIFE in you, while I, the Father, live in Him.

THIS IS HOW GOD SHOWED HIS LOVE AMONG US: HE SENT HIS ONE AND ONLY SON INTO THE WORLD THAT WE MIGHT LIVE THROUGH HIM
(1 John 4:9).

How does this message of ONENESS with God challenge and change your thinking, this Christmas season?

PRAYER: Lord God, I want to receive Your Gift of Oneness; therefore, I lay down my own reasoning to allow the reasoning of Your Holy Spirit in me and through me, this Christmas season.

The Two Counsels

Be Grounded in God’s DNA

FOR WE ARE HIS WORKMANSHIP
(Ephesians 2:10).

Fathom that if you surrender your will to the Will of the Perfect Father…the Most High…the I AM, He will make you His workmanship.  He will establish your nature, stabilize your emotions, shape your desires, and ground your beliefs in His Son, Christ Jesus, the NEW MAN.

CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS
(Ephesians 2:10).

Capture that when you are created in Christ Jesus, you are grounded in God’s DNA—His Divine Nature from Above.  He sustains you with His Truth.  He enriches you with His Righteousness.  He infuses you with His Life. Through Christ, the Perfect Father exerts His sovereign, determining influence on your Life, moment-by-moment, empowering you to overcome, equipping you for your daily tasks, enabling you to do what is right.

I AM THE VINE, YE ARE THE BRANCHES: HE THAT ABIDETH IN ME, AND I IN HIM, THE SAME BRINGETH FORTH MUCH FRUIT: FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING
(John 15:5).

However, if you step outside of your life in Christ Jesus, even for a moment, you step into the Law of Sin and Death—into the will of the evil one. If you step outside of the NEW MAN, you step into the OLD MAN, the body of sin.  There, the accusatory OLD MAN beliefs rule, the insecure OLD MAN nature reigns, and the painful OLD MAN emotions break your heart. There, you are stripped of God’s Life, removed from God’s Righteousness, and separated from God’s Truth.  There, you wither and die.

IF A MAN ABIDE NOT IN ME, HE IS CAST FORTH AS A BRANCH, AND IS WITHERED; AND MEN GATHER THEM, AND CAST THEM INTO THE FIRE, AND THEY ARE BURNED
(John 15:6).

Do you long to become God’s workmanship? Then, submit your will to the Will of the Most High and allow Him to ground and establish you in the Life of His Son, Jesus Christ. Invite the NEW MAN to exchange your painful emotions for His, replace your insecure nature with His, and ground your accusatory beliefs in His Truth. Let Him become the Vine that runs through your spirit, soul, and body.

PRAYER: Lord God, I surrender my will to Your Will. Make me Your workmanship. Establish me in Christ Jesus, to be infused with Your Life, enriched with Your Righteousness, equipped with Your Truth. Help me to understand that I was never meant to live independently from You, but in unity with You.

Believe

AND WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD, BECAUSE ANYONE WHO COMES TO HIM MUST BELIEVE THAT HE EXISTS AND THAT HE REWARDS THOSE WHO EARNESTLY SEEK HIM
(Hebrews 11:6).

Do you believe that God exists?  Do you believe that God will reward you if you earnestly seek Him?  If you don’t, you need to find the why’s and how’s of your own perturbing perceptions, so you may correctly handle the Word of Truth.

BUT WHEN HE, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, COMES, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH
(John 16:13).

What is the understanding of your own mind? Why would God not reward you? Are you too unacceptable—not worthy of reward?  Have you blown it, because you have made too many mistakes?  Are you a disappointment, only worthy of punishment?

THEN YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE
(John 8:32).

EMBRACE your perturbing perceptions—the reasoning that argues that God will not reward you at any cost. EXPOSE these irrational interpretations to the Spirit of Truth. Then, ask Him to guide you into all Truth—to EXCHANGE your perturbing perceptions for HIS Perspective.

DO YOUR BEST TO PRESENT YOURSELF TO GOD AS ONE APPROVED, A WORKER WHO DOES NOT NEED TO BE ASHAMED AND WHO CORRECTLY HANDLES THE WORD OF TRUTH
(2 Timothy 2:15).

When you know the Truth, you will become someone who feels approved—someone who does not need to be ashamed for who you are and what you have done.  You will believe that you are eligible to seek God with all your heart…and receive His reward.

“You must act on what you have come to know and believe before it will ever become real in your experience, before you realize by personal experience that Jesus is alive not just in heaven but in you, every moment of every day, as the Father was alive in Him. Then, your actions will be the activity of faith.”–Major W. Ian Thomas

PRAYER: Lord God, I admit that I sometimes do not believe that You will reward me if I earnestly seek You. Forgive me, Lord, for my unbelief, as I submit my perturbing perceptions to You. Show me Your Truth, so I may act on what I have come to know—so I may correctly handle Your Word of Truth.

Maintain an Awareness

When you pray and lay your problem before God, give Him the freedom to answer you in any way He wants to, according to His great Mercy and Grace. Push your own preconceived answers aside. Then, HIS Answer will enter your mind and heart.

The Two Counsels

A New Spirit

Deep inside, our hearts are filled with deceit from the father-of-lies—deceitful beliefs of unworthiness, unrighteousness, and non-acceptance. Therefore, we develop habits and patterns of worthiness, righteousness, and acceptance, on the outside, so we may hide the deceitful beliefs of unworthiness, unrighteousness, and non-acceptance, on the inside. But, these defense patterns of escape on the outside cause their own unworthy, unrighteous, and unacceptable behavior—SIN.

THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS AND BEYOND CURE. WHO CAN UNDERSTAND IT?
(Jeremiah 17:9).

What a revelation when we realize that we cannot polish away the beliefs and feelings of unworthiness, unrighteousness, and non-acceptance that are on the inside with habits and patterns of worthiness, righteousness, and acceptance, on the outside. The deceitful beliefs in our own hearts cannot be cured through our own ways. They will always turn into unworthy, unrighteous, and unacceptable behavior—SIN.

I WILL JUDGE EACH OF YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR OWN WAYS, DECLARES THE SOVEREIGN LORD. REPENT! TURN AWAY FROM ALL YOUR OFFENSES; THEN SIN WILL NOT BE YOUR DOWNFALL.  RID YOURSELVES OF ALL THE OFFENSES YOU HAVE COMMITTED, AND GET A NEW HEART AND A NEW SPIRIT
(Ezekiel 18:30-31).

There is only one cure—to turn away from our own ways of trying to get rid of our beliefs of unworthiness, unrighteousness, and non-acceptance. If we turn away from all our defense mechanisms of escape, and turn our beliefs of unworthiness, unrighteousness, and non-acceptance over to God, He Himself gives us a new heart and a new spirit. Then, sin stops being our downfall.

A NEW HEART ALSO WILL I GIVE YOU, AND A NEW SPIRIT WILL I PUT WITHIN YOU: AND I WILL TAKE AWAY THE STONY HEART OUT OF YOUR FLESH, AND I WILL GIVE YOU AN HEART OF FLESH
(Ezekiel 36:26).

The Lord Jesus came to exchange your heart for His own—a Heart that is Worthy, Acceptable, and Righteous.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I repent. I admit that I cannot cure my stony heart of deceit. I cannot get rid of the deceitful beliefs and feelings in my heart, which cause my defense mechanisms of escape, which cause the sinful deeds, on the outside. I turn away from all my offenses, to come to You for a new heart and a new spirit—Your Heart and Your Spirit. Thank you, Lord Jesus.
