The other day, after I had dropped my daughter off at the airport, I felt very sad. After saying good-bye, I sat in my car for a long time, crying. I missed my daughter, but that was only part of my sadness. Suddenly, I felt very alone and afraid in a big world of darkness, deceit, and despair.
This was a moment in my life that I knew I had to surrender…not just the feeling of sadness, but also the underlying belief that I was not safe in this world where most people lived to follow and obey the father-of-lies. And that is just what I did. As I watched my daughter’s plane fly away above the building of the grocery store, I invited the Lord Jesus into the sadness and loneliness in my heart.
Drying my tears, I walked into the grocery store and started shopping for vegetables. Suddenly, a beautiful song played through the sound system of the store: “I am strong when I am on your shoulders. You raise me up to more than I can be.” Awe filled my heart, as I stood frozen in front of the celery. God knew I was sad. He knew I was afraid. And He knew I was in the grocery store. He was quieting me with His Love. He was rejoicing over me with singing. He was lifting me up on His shoulders.
THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE EVERYWHERE, KEEPING WATCH ON THE WICKED AND THE GOOD
(Proverbs 15:3).
I bless you to embrace that you are safe. God is keeping watch over you. His eyes are on you. He also sees the wicked who live to follow and obey the father-of-lies. He knows how you feel. He knows what you believe. And He knows where you are. He is mighty to save…if you invite Him into your sadness and fear.
THE LORD YOUR GOD IS WITH YOU,
HE IS MIGHTY TO SAVE.
HE WILL TAKE GREAT DELIGHT IN YOU,
HE WILL QUIET YOU WITH HIS LOVE,
HE WILL REJOICE OVER YOU WITH SINGING
(Zephaniah 3:17).
Considering that God’s eyes are on you, today, what would you like to ask Him? What emotion in your heart would you like Him to quiet with His Love? From what would you like Him to save you?
PRAYER: Most High, how encouraged I am that You are with me, right where I am. How comforting that You can see me right where I am and that You can see my heart, too. I invite You into my feelings of sadness and fear. Quiet me with Your Love. Lift me up on Your shoulders, and show me the way out of my troubles. You are mighty to save.

And here lies the root to all our problems: not the FACTS we experienced during our childhood circumstances…but the CONCLUSIONS we made in response to these facts.
