A Broken Heart

All my life, I wanted to be good. I wanted a heart filled with Goodness…Righteousness…Holiness.  However, MY HEART WAS BAD.  It was filled with deceit. It felt as if my heart was a black chunk of broken, decayed flesh that could not be revived, rejuvenated, or regenerated. Because I felt so ashamed of this tattered heart, I desperately tried to hide it.  To me it became a matter of life and death to prove that my heart was “good,” so people would not find out that it was bad.  That made matters worse, for I ended up with many desperate, sinful habits and patterns of defense that fought for my heart.  These behavior patterns caused me to feel even more ashamed.

THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS AND BEYOND CURE. WHO CAN UNDERSTAND IT?
(Jeremiah 17:9).

Beautiful One, you need to know that your heart is not bad. It is broken. The father-of-lies is responsible for your tattered heart.  While you were growing up, he filled your heart with deceit—one accusatory lie after the other.  Eventually, the deceit accumulated, until your heart ripped apart, oozing with shame, condemnation, rejection, and abandonment.  Out of this broken heart came evil thoughts and bad conduct.

FOR OUT OF THE HEART COME EVIL THOUGHTS, MURDER, ADULTERY, SEXUAL IMMORALITY, THEFT, FALSE TESTIMONY, SLANDER
(Matthew 15:19).

Child, because of the excess of deceit that accumulated in your heart, over the years, it cannot be fixed. It can only be replaced. If you bring your tattered heart to Me, just the way it is, I will remove it and give you a new heart—MY HEART! Will you accept My Gift?

I WILL GIVE YOU A NEW HEART AND PUT A NEW SPIRIT IN YOU; I WILL REMOVE FROM YOU YOUR HEART OF STONE AND GIVE YOU A HEART OF FLESH
(Ezekiel 36:26).

Today I have a new heart—GOD’S HEART.  I do not have to adopt sinful habits and patterns of defense to hide my black broken heart from the world, anymore.  I do not have to feel ashamed, condemned, rejected, and abandoned, anymore. God gave me His very own Heart, filled with Goodness, Righteousness, and Holiness.

Stop trying to fix your black broken heart. You are only making matters worse. Instead, ask the Lord Jesus to give you a new heart. Ask Him to remove the heart of stone that formed in you as a result of the negative, destructive beliefs of the father-of-lies.  And He will give you HIS VERY OWN HEART, in the place of yours.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, today I ask You to replace my broken, deceitful heart with a new heart—Your Heart.

We do not understand what is going on within us and we are too afraid to find out. We are too afraid to live…and even more afraid to die.
