A MALICIOUS MAN DISGUISES HIMSELF WITH HIS LIPS, BUT IN HIS HEART HE HARBORS DECEIT. THOUGH HIS SPEECH IS CHARMING, DO NOT BELIEVE HIM, FOR SEVEN ABOMINATIONS FILL HIS HEART
(Proverbs 26:24-25).
Understand that your heart is a reservoir that either holds deceit from the father-of-lies…or Truth from the Lord Jesus Christ. You will know who fills your heart by listening to the words you speak.
CHRIST…FILLS ALL THINGS EVERYWHERE WITH HIMSELF
(Ephesians 1:23).
Listen to your mouth. Does it speak proud words of self-praise and self-glory? This might be an indication that your heart is filled with the father-of-lies’ abomination of shame. JESUS WANTS TO FILL YOUR HEART WITH HIS SELF, so you may feel worthy and acceptable.
Listen to your mouth. Does it speak hateful words of bitterness and jealousy? This might be an indication that your heart is filled with the father-of-lies’ abomination of rejection. JESUS WANTS TO FILL YOUR HEART WITH HIS SELF, so you may feel wanted and needed.
Listen to your mouth. Does it speak negative words of hopelessness and despair? This might be an indication that your heart is filled with the father-of-lies’ abomination of abandonment. JESUS WANTS TO FILL YOUR HEART WITH HIS SELF, so you may feel loved and lovable.
ABOVE ALL ELSE, GUARD YOUR HEART, FOR IT IS THE WELLSPRING OF LIFE
(Proverbs 4:23).
Remember, you will only be as good on the outside as you are on the inside. Therefore, guard your heart. It is the wellspring of life. Know that you do not have to live with these abominations of rejection, abandonment, shame, and condemnation in your heart, forever. You have a choice, today, to invite the Lord Jesus to fill your heart with His Self, instead.
Which abominations of deceit fill you heart? How do they influence your speech, daily?
The Lord Jesus wants to fill your heart with His Self, but you need to stop disguising the abominations in your heart with sinful speech of self-praise, criticism, and bitterness. Rather, EMBRACE the abominations in your heart, EXPOSE them to the Lord Jesus, and allow Him to EXCHANGE them for His Self. Then, your speech will change, too.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to invite Your Presence and Participation into my heart, moment-by-moment, when I notice that my words are negative, belittling, prideful, or hateful. Remind me, daily, to guard my heart, since it is the wellspring of life.
