FROM THE SIXTH HOUR UNTIL THE NINTH HOUR DARKNESS CAME OVER ALL THE LAND. ABOUT THE NINTH HOUR JESUS CRIED OUT IN A LOUD VOICE, ‘ELOI, ELOI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?’—WHICH MEANS, ‘MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?’
(Matthew 27:45-46).
Seize the truth that Jesus has become to you Immanuel, GOD WITH YOU, and He has always been with you, and will always be with you…to the very end.
Beloved Child, I, Jesus, God’s only Son, have never left you. I have never abandoned you. When bad things happened to you during your childhood years, I was looking in. When you felt lost and scared, I was taking notes. When feelings of hopelessness and despair flooded your mind, I paid attention. When you were being betrayed, I was on guard. When you thought no one knew, I was attentive. When you thought no one cared, I kept very close. I was abandoned, so you would never be.
GOD HAS SAID, ‘NEVER WILL I LEAVE YOU; NEVER WILL I FORSAKE YOU’
(Hebrew 13:5).
I found out that Jesus has been observing everything that has happened to me, all through my life. When my daddy died during my childhood years, Jesus was right there at the funeral, ready to comfort me. During the time when I felt so condemned because of a mistake I made, Jesus was there, ready to accept me. During the time when I felt like a failure and a disappointment, Jesus was there, ready to tell me the Truth. And you know, because Jesus was there during my childhood incidences where things went wrong, I can go back to these same childhood places and find Him there, still waiting for me. This time, all I have to do is ask Him to make things right.
Do you feel forsaken? It is very possible that your belief of being forsaken came through a childhood incident. Know that it is not what happened to you during your childhood that deemed you forsaken, but what you came to believe about yourself, during these incidences. And these conclusions still live in your mind, today.
I challenge you to look back at the childhood places where you thought you had been forsaken. Surrender your conclusions to God. Then, look for Jesus in those places. You will find Him waiting for you there, in the same places you thought you had been abandoned. When you find Him there, your beliefs of abandonment will leave.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I am coming to look for You in all these places where I have always felt abandoned. Show Yourself to me, so I may be in Your Presence and know that I was never forsaken, in the first place.
